8/24/11 morning update

As of this morning, Hurricane Irene expected to take a slightly
further west track around NC, bringing a MAJOR hurricane just west of
the Outer Banks. This track puts the Outer Banks on the east side of
the storm. Being on the east side increases your chances to be in the
more violent side ( tornadoes etc).

From there, Irene will then shoot north to just off the Jersey Coast
and then up to NYC (still as a hurricane!). This would also put Long
Island into the eastern part of the storm and could be some
devastating Storm surge along with the tornado threat.

With this track, NJ areas would likely see copious amounts of rain and winds.
