8/23/2011 Hurricane Irene Update

As of this morning, Irene is still on track for a hit on the NC/SC border. Also, it is being shown now to make landfall as a MAJOR hurricane (winds greater than 110mph). Landfall is expected in the overnight hours on Saturday. This hurricane already has a history of knocking out power to 100's of thousands of people and producing hurricane damage in places it has already gone through. making landfall as a MAJOR hurricane will be devastating. The time to start preparing is now. Further down the line, I am worried for our area with the copious amounts of rain we will be getting on top of probably a category 1 or 2 hurricane with winds just short of triple digits.
