Tuesday/Wednesday

Well, it appears that most models think the first low pressure over the Ohio Valley will weaken earlier, meaning the coastal low pressure can develop and strengthen earlier as well. This is good for the snow lovers. As of now, it looks like snow develops in the evening hours on Tuesday. Snow will continue and become heavier overnight. Snow will continue into Wednesday and eventually end during the mid morning hours. Right now, I believe that 4" is a pretty safe bet. This will probably ultimately be a 6-12" event, but there is not a real good consensus with the models. I am waiting until tomorrows mid afternoon, evening and nighttime model runs to hone into amounts. As of now, I would plan on 4" minimum. I would also suspect winter storm watches to be issued tomorrow during the day for the central NJ region.

One thing is for sure, parts of the deep south are getting a good dumping of snow, with reports of thundersnow. There is a significant amount of moisture being pulled into the system from the Gulf of Mexico. Also, there will be a paralyzing ice storm for parts of the deep south as well.

More to come tomorrow
