April 9, 2016 End Of Winter Storm

One last hurrah for winter as we have another storm approaching the area tonight into tomorrow. As the storm approaches, it will be bringing with it some really cold air. The storm will start out as rain over NJ but as the temperatures begin to crash, a change to snow can be expected. While we may have snow falling, accumulations will be tough to come by. With the April sun angle and warmer ground temperatures, any areas that have accumulations will likely be elevated areas or areas that receive moderate to heavy snows in heavier bands. Models are showing there will be an area of heavier snows setting up, but different models have this band setting up in different locations. Where that heavier banding sets up will determine who has the best chances for accumulations. This storm tomorrow will be potent as well, and there is a chance for some areas to see thundersnow /sleet. I am not expecting major accumulations through much of NJ, but areas with higher elevations and areas stuck under the snow banding have a chance to sneak out some accumulations. Once the storm passes, we will once again be dealing with very strong winds and colder temperatures. A freeze warning is in effect for much of the area for tomorrow night into Sunday.
