Storms move into the area, but lose punch

A frontal boundary has been pushing East all day. Earlier, quite a bit of instability existed for areas of the Garden State, bit as the progressed, and the sun set, the instability has decreased. There still is a line of storms that will move through, but not to the severe levels as seen earlier. Expect heavy rain, some winds and some rumbles of thunder, but I don't think it will be as wild as it could have been 2-3 hours ago

Severe Thunderstorms Possible This PM

Keep a watchful eye to the sky this afternoon. A frontal boundary will be moving through and will touch off potentially severe thunderstorms. The excessive heat and humidity will also further aid the development.

Tropical Storm Beryl Named

Well, for the second time in a week, we have another named tropical system. This will be the second named storm prior to the beginning of the official "Hurricane Season" on June 1. Beryl, located off the GA / FLA coast will move westward and make landfall. After making landfall, Beryl will likely loose strength and become a tropical depression. Beryl will then move to the Northeast and upon re-entering the Atlantic Ocean, will gain strength and head for the Outer Banks, quite possibly as a Tropical Storm again! Quite the path with locally heavy rains, strong winds and thunderstorms in those areas where Beryl comes in contact. Here is the latest from the NHC:
