Cold Train Leaving The Station

This time next week, we may well be settled into cold temperatures. Yesterdays cold front that moved through was a small step down to the cold temperatures. There is a ridge building in the midwest, which will be setting the stages for the cold front next week that will lead to our colder temperatures next weekend. Depicted on the photo below is the ridgeing in the midwest and the driving force in our temperature drop. Notice the swirl in Souther California? That is a low pressure system driving the change! Pretty nice visual on it in the midday water vapor loop!
