Winter To Make A Return?

There is a better than average shot of making it back up to 70 degrees this afternoon only to have a frontal boundary pass through this evening and drop temperatures back down into the 50's and low 60's for the remainder of the week. Even a thunderstorm cannot be ruled out this afternoon. 

The bigger news is a possible return to winter for parts just north of NJ (even NW NJ may be in on this). A low pressure system is poised to move through Friday Night into Saturday and has the potential to drop 6"+ of snow through CNY down through CT, RI and MASS (although looking like a 2-4" snowfall in CT) This will be just to the north of NYC and NE NJ.  Here are the maps from this morning:
